The Care Act 2014 comes into force today, bringing with it, as Carers UK say, “landmark new rights for families caring for loved ones”.

The new Act contains a number of new obligations for local authorities and new opportunities and rights for carers. The Association of Directors of Adult Social Services (ADASS) call it “a modern Act for a modern service”.
