Invitation: Launch of Barking and Dagenham Community Action Partnership
Event: ‘Community Organisation Networking Event’
Venue: Barking Learning Centre, 2 Town Quay, Barking IG11 7NB
Time and date: Friday, 27 March 2015 from 10.30 to 12.30
Lunch and refreshments will be provided

The aim of this free event is to bring together community organisations who represent the partnership’s ‘community groups of interest’; the Asian community and families with young children, to learn more about the Community Action Partnership and how we can help their clients. Fuel poverty charity National Energy Action and British Gas, the UK’s leading energy provider, have teamed up with the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham, to launch the Community Action Partnership, as part of a £1.2 million community investment programme across the UK.

The partnership will help local organisations in various ways including
• Providing accredited energy efficiency or fuel debt training for their front line workers
• Specialist support
• Energy awareness information sessions and drop-ins for their staff or service users

The event will also provide the opportunity for NEA to formally award Community Enterprise East London with a Community Action Award for its ‘Engaging Schools’ project, which uses schools to reach out to communities through the existing trusted relationship between schools and parents. The Community Action Award scheme recognises and promotes best practice in tackling fuel poverty at a local level, and is supported by the Department of Energy and Climate Change and British Gas.
